Introduction
The Etheos Protection Force are a sub unit of the Etheosian military created by the Etheosian Government in 2032 after the initial threat of a civil war. They are primarily military police put into power to replace the police force in a time of martial law. However, the EPF were never put into use and remained dormant until 2059, where Etheos suffered a fatal blow to it's economy and spiralled into complete turmoil, depraved of all former glory.
The delayed deployment of the EPF meant they had no time to prepare and were spread thin across Etheos. When trying to defend the entire country became futile, they set up Occupated Metropolitan Enclosures, which were cramped and tightly packed zones designed to fit as many civilians in as possible so that watching over them would yield more efficient results. Police activity outside of these OMEs eventually dissapated, now colloquially referred to as the "Outlands" or "The Outside"
Purpose
The EPFs utmost purpose is to maintain law and order in the OMEs. They do this by the letter and are much more heavy handed then the original Police Force. Their intentions are not oppressive, but should something confront them in their mission to return balance to Etheos, they will use force. Because of the tight design of the OMEs there is a heightened risk of damage from potential threats to the public. For this reason, the EPF are more leniant on using lethal force against criminals.
EPF Officers
Every Officer takes an oath to protect the inhabitants of OMEs to the best of his or her ability. Should this oath be broken, they are open to banishment from the EPF and most likely a lengthy prison sentence.
In the event of a standoff, or hostile encounter, the offending citizen is always offered a chance to surrender peacefully. If they do so, then they are treated fairly and with all their rights as prisoners. If they do not, then they may become victims of the effective justice system.
Officer loadout
All EPF officers carry lethal sidearms at all times. They are permitted to use these weapons when they are fired upon or when deadly force is required to remove a threat from the OME. They are also equipped with a long range taser, effective when needed to subdue a fleeing criminal or to temporarily remove a harrassing citizen. With the taser comes a baton with a tip that emits an electrical jolt onto whatever it touches. This is also used to subdue criminals that are within close range.
Roles
An EPF Officer may specialise in many areas. These may include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Medical Care
- Narcotics Specialisation
- Explosives Removal
- Interrogation
- ...and many more.
The EPF Officers are co-ordinated by the EPF Dispatch who controls lockdowns, communication, and other administrative work.
